    About News Reporter Barb Mitchell:

    Barb Mitchell is a local performer, voiceover artist and broadcast journalist.


    Barb is most recognized for her more than 22 years in the news business where she worked as a national & local reporter, news anchor, morning show host and documentary producer for Global TV, Citytv, Shaw TV and CFCN. After 9 years getting up far too early to host morning television Barb branched out into acting and has enjoyed working in both film and theatre. She also lends her voice to many animated series & commercials and continues to write and produce for television and corporate clients.

    On stage Barb has enjoyed bringing diverse characters to life from Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate, to many of Shakespeare's characters including Queen Margaret in Richard III, Lady Capulet in Romeo & Juliet , a Witch in MacBeth and Queen Tamora in Titus Andronicus.

    She has had the pleasure to perform in musicals like Theatre Calgary's Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Nunsense for Front Row Centre Players and recently she's explored her love of sketch comedy with a group called The Late, Late Breakfast Show.

    Film credits include Hell on Wheels (series), Burn Up (mini-series), Heartland (series), Lost Holiday (TV movie), Dawn Anna (TV movie) and this Christmas you'll see her a lead character in The Merry In-Laws (TV movie) with Shelly Long & George Wendt from Cheers.

    As a teenager Barb cultivated her performance skills on stage at the Calgary Stampede as a member of the Young Canadians. She is also a former Miss Calgary and is married with three children.
